I am a registered midwife and qualified hypnotherapist and Birthlight Pregnancy Yoga teacher based in North Yorkshire. Until 2015 I worked as a midwife in a busy city hospital in West Yorkshire. I became interested in Hypnobirthing after seeing a woman using the tools of hypnosis in her labour and having a very calm, peaceful and controlled birth. I now work for a charity running a project called Baby Steps in Catterick Garrison. I teach hypnobirthing privately and I run weekly Birthlight pregnancy yoga classes in Great Ayton.
I feel that if every woman could have the opportunity to learn the tools and techniques of relaxation, breathing, visualisation and self-hypnosis then the experiences of labour and birth for so many women and their partners could be transformed.
The more I researched the evidence for hypnosis and in particular the model of Natal Hypnotherapy™ developed by Maggie Howell the more excited I became about the opportunity to teach it to women and their partners. I trained as a Natal Hypnotherapy™ practitioner in 2013 and began delivering private workshops to friends and family members. The more I found out about hypnosis the more interested I became in how it could be used in other areas of life and this led me to qualify as a general hypnotherapist in 2015.
I am delighted to now be offering my own one to one Hypnobirthing courses for couples in North Yorkshire. I’m happy to chat before you book so that you can find out more before booking. If you would prefer a group course I can put you in touch with other practitioners in the area.
Ideally the workshops should be taken when a woman is between 25-34 weeks pregnant but they can also be taken at any stage in pregnancy. Courses are becoming very popular and so I recommend booking well in advance!
